New Application: Multiphase Pump for Wet Gas Injection

In June 2008 Bornemann has delivered a fully automated containerised multiphase-pump system to Russia. The system consists of all necessary control and safety equipment in order to operate safe and flexible under supervision of a PLC based control system. End user is the company RITEK which acts inside of the LUKOIL group as an innovation centre.Behind the oil-gas-water separation process the multiphase pump type MPC 208 is used as a pre-compressor for the gas-/water mixture.

The compressed mixture will be routed to a booster pump and injected into the formation. The injection of associated gas can be used to maintain the reservoir pressure. In parallel the by-products of oil production will be disposed environmentally friendly. It is a matter of a serial pump system with an interspersed buffer-vessel controlled by the discharge pressure of the multiphase system. The pre-compression of the multiphase pump lead to an extensive volume reduction of the gas-/water mixture input to the booster pump.

The successful start up of the system located in the Sredne-Hulymskoye oilfield Western Siberia was done in July 2009 within one week. Gas injection leads to a increasing of the reservoir pressure and therefore to a higher recovery.
