Siemens
A&D: New
system for power distribution in aggressive environments
For the Sivacon 8PS
busbar trunking system, Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) is
replacing the previous polyester-based PEC system with the new LR system
featuring an enclosure made of epoxy cast-resin.
This busbar trunking system has significantly higher elasticity, and
transmits power for rated currents of 630 A to 6300 A. It is designed for
use outdoors and in aggressive environments with high atmospheric humidity
and salinity levels. The close proximity of the conductors to each other
and their arrangement result in a minimum voltage dip along lengthy power
transmission paths. Type-tested connection of the LR and LX systems is
possible using a transition element, turning Sivacon 8PS into an
integrated busbar trunking system for outdoor and indoor applications
