WIKA: Safety for users of sour gas applications In sour gas applications, sudden damage
caused by sulfur-induced stress corrosion cracking and chlorine-induced
pitting presents a risk that cannot be ignored. Through intensive dialogue
with users and metallurgy experts WIKA has developed a solution to this
problem.
These
extensive tests were performed taking into account the make-up of the
process medium; the pH value, the temperature and the H2S
partial pressure. In addition the metallurgical condition of the measuring
instruments, which is known to have an influence on the behaviour in
environments containing H2S, was taken into consideration. This
includes the chemical composition of the alloy, the manufacturing process,
the product’s design, the stability, the hardness as well as the final
heat treatment of the assembly. These
materials have proven their suitability over several years of practical
use in the field and now also in the laboratory under the metallurgical,
mechanical and ambient conditions mentioned above. WIKA offers pressure
measuring instruments according to EN ISO 15156/ NACE MR 0175 and can also
provide the associated documentation required. For more information please contact: WIKA
