CAC has been awarded a contract
for conversion of an existing chlor alkali electrolysis
at PPC in Thann, France


Potasse et Produits Chimiques (PPC), a company of WeylChem Group, the fine chemicals platform of International Chemical Investors Group (ICIG) will convert the existing mercury-based electrolysis plant to a modern, energy saving membrane process, enhancing environmental sustainability and increasing competitioness. Additionally the current bromine recovery capabilities will be increased significantly.

“This comprehensive project will be a strong signal to secure the long term future of PPC in Thann and we are more than happy that the required bank finance has been secured from Commerzbank” says Philippe Robin, President of PPC.

Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz GmbH (CAC) has been awarded a contract by PPC to convert the electrolysis plant and to update and expand the bromine recovery production facilities.

The contract, worth approximately Euro 30 million, covers engineering, procurement and construction based on an Extended Basic Engineering Package previously performed by CAC.

Commissioning is scheduled for the firth quarter of 2015.
