DMT: Mine gas recovery and CO2 storage
13.01.2011 + + + The recovery of mine gas for energy production and the study of CO2 storage sites are only two of the topics which the Essen company DMT will take to the E-world energy & water trade fair from 8th to the 10th February 2011.
The injection of CO2 deep underground for the purpose of long-term storage requires geological and geophysical surveys of potential sites with comprehensive studies and detailed assessment in the exploration phase and an appropriate risk management and monitoring during and after operation. For the planners and operators of this type of storage facility DMT conducts competent geological evaluations using a combination of different geophysical and geochemistry techniques which are essential in order to make the right decisions and to guarantee reliable planning.
Mine gas recovery has become a global growing market not least due to the Kyoto-Protocol. Based on their many years of experience with gas recovery in both active and abandoned mines DMT offer a variety of services that cover the entire recovery process under consideration of technical and economical factors and which reduce the operator’s project risk.

About six hundred employees (of whom more than seventy percent are engineers, scientists and technicians) provide services in the form of individualized consulting and assistance tailored specifically to the client’s needs. They also serve as impartial assessors. The firm’s activities focus on the fields of natural resources exploration, safety in buildings, construction and infrastructure projects, mining, cokemaking technology, product testing and measurement instrumentation in industrial settings. DMT is a member of the TÜV NORD Group.
About Exploration & Geosurvey
Using methods and techniques drawn from the fields of geology and hydrogeology, geophysics, geodetics and geotechnology, the Exploration & Geosurvey Division supplies the data needed to achieve planning reliability for the extraction of natural resources (oil and gas, coal, salt, deep geothermal energy and others), for relieving the environment (carbon capture and sequestration, reducing CO2 emissions etc.) and for special-purpose civil engineering. Our work, concentrated in a single company and reaching all around the world, begins with planning, includes surveying and interpretation and extends to modeling and the final evaluation. And to ensure the very best results we also develop, operate and market our own geosurveying systems.
