MPI Adventure awarded Trianel Wind Farm Borkum Charter Party

MPI Offshore is pleased to announce the award of a charter party in respect of MPI Adventure by Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum GmbH & Co. KG for the installation of wind turbine generators on the Trianel Borkum Offshore Wind Farm situated off the Northern Coast of Germany. 

MPI Adventure is scheduled to commence the installation of forty Areva five Megawatt wind turbine generators during the second quarter of 2013. The Trianel Wind Farm Borkum is being built forty-five kilometres off Borkum Island in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the North Sea. The wind farm will generate 800 Gigawatt hours annually and power 200,000 households.

Klaus Horstick, CEO of Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum GmbH & Co. KG said "With MPI we have found a reliable partner for the installation of wind turbine generators. We are confident the coming installation campaign will be carried out successfully".
MPI Adventure is a wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), designed to transport, lift and install wind turbines and their foundations. Key features on MPI Adventure include a 1,000-tonne-capacity main crane plus a 50-tonne-capacity auxilliary crane, DP-2, accommodation capacity for 112 persons, an operating depth of 40 metres (at 5.0m leg penetration and 7.8m air gap) and an ability to jack with 6,000 tonnes of cargo on board.

The port of loading of MPI Adventure will be in the Eemshaven in the Netherlands. Each vessel-installation cycle will comprise three complete wind turbine generators and be based on the carriage of "rotor-star assemblies" (pre-assembled hub and blades).
