MTU: Special-purpose platform for offshore wind farms
powered by gensets with MTU engines


2012-11-09   + + +   Power for the special-purpose Hydra platform from Seajacks will be supplied by four gensets from Bertel O. Steen, the Norwegian MTU distributor for marine applications. With their four MTU 16V 4000 engines, the gensets will produce a total of up to 7,040kVA for the platform?s diesel-electric propulsion system and the 400-ton crane on board.

The Hydra jacks itself up to its required working height for installation and maintenance tasks on wind farms. 'More and more vessel operators are opting for the high quality and low life-cycle costs of Bertel O. Steen marine gensets with MTU engines', said Kjetil Dent Tranberg, Marine Sales manager at Bertel O. Steen. 'And we are proud of that!'
