Schneider Electric delivers Control Power Distribution Units
for Åsgard subsea compression

2014-01-15 + + + Schneider Electric has delivered, on schedule, three control power distribution units (CPDUs) for the Åsgard subsea compression station project. The Åsgard CPDUs will provide fully redundant low-voltage power for the world's first subsea gas compression station.

Two CPDUs will be installed on the subsea template. The third is a spare.

Schneider Electric won the order in June 2011 from Aker Solutions. Åsgard field is off the coast of Norway at a water depth of 300 m (984 ft). Åsgard is operated by Statoil with partners Eni, ExxonMobil, Petoro, and Total.

The three CPDUs have been delivered to Egersund, Norway, where the mechanical, electrical, and automation integration and final testing of the complete subsea unit are being performed in an ongoing collaboration between Aker Solutions and Schneider Electric.
