Siemens: The first gas turbine packaged in Hengelo has just successfully completed its string test 23.03.2011 + + + The first gas turbine packaged in Hengelo has just successfully completed its string test (a combined operational test of compressor and gas turbine as the mechanical drive). The Hengelo location of the Siemens Oil and Gas Division is now focusing on the entire mechanical drive package process for the oil and gas market. The first gas turbine package is one of five SGT-400 mechanical drive packages, which will be assembled together with the compressor packages for two onshore gas terminal projects in North Africa. The competencies and capacities for packaging in Hengelo are currently being further developed with plans for expansion of the facility as well as the creation of new jobs, e.g. in engineering, sales and in the workshop. These steps will not only increase the flexibility of the packaging process but also reduce packaging time. For the first completed string test, the gas turbine core engine was manufactured in Lincoln, England. The compressor was built in Duisburg, Germany. More: www.siemens.com/energy Eva-Maria Baumann |
