Siemens: PetroChina relies on Siemens flow meters

19.01.2012 + + + PetroChina Company Limited has awarded Siemens a contract for the supply of 80 clampon flow meters. The Siemens Sitrans FUH1010 flow meters are slated for installation on six crude and refined oil pipelines totaling 3,800 kilometers in length.

With the award of this contract, Siemens has now secured more than 80 percent of all PetroChina clamp-on flow project business for oil and gas pipelines in China. To this point, Siemens flow meters have either been installed or ordered for a total pipeline length of over 15,000 kilometers.

Prospects also appear bright for the future: China plans to add another 130,000 kilometers of pipelines to its existing 70,000 kilometer network within the next ten years. Siemens was awarded the project due to its outstanding track record and superior technological offerings within the pipeline industry. Siemens China will be supplying the instruments in a joint venture with the Siemens Center of Competence for Ultrasonic Flow situated in Hauppauge, New York/USA.

Siemens flow meters of the Sitrans range monitor the oil and gas flowing through pipelines, providing valuable information for leak detection and management systems.
