Borouge 3 Petrochemical Project
ALPINE wins 111 million US Dollar contract in Abu Dhabi

20.01.2011  + + +  Borouge, a leading provider of high-grade plastic solutions, has instructed ALPINE Bau Deutschland AG with the construction of the expansion project Borouge 3. The value of purchase is about 111 million USD. ALPINE is the responsible turnkey contractor for the construction of 26 facilities consisting of office buildings, production and storage facilities in Ruwais/Abu Dhabi.

In total, about 30,000 cubic metre of concrete, 2,800 tons of reinforcement and 2,000 tons of structural steel will be used. The beginning of construction is imminent. Completion of the project is planned for the third quarter of 2013.

Until 2014, the Borouge 3 mega project will expand the total production capacity of this petro chemistry facility from 2.5 million tons to an annual production of 4.5 million tons of polyolefine. Borouge is a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), one of the largest oil companies in the world, and the Austrian company Borealis which is a leading provider of high-grade plastic solutions.

Borouge 3 is the second project implemented by ALPINE for the ADNOC group. The ADNOC office building in Ruwais, to be constructed as a turn-key project, will be turned over by mid 2011. In 2010, ALPINE was awarded the ADNOC Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Award for this project in the category safety. This award recognizes exceptional safety at work standards for employees at construction sites.
