Rosneft: Expansion of offshore exploration - new ventures with global
companies 28.02.2011 + + + Russian oil giant Rosneft is pushing a major expansion of its offshore exploration business through talks with global companies about new ventures in the Arctic, says the company’s First Vice President Pavel Fedorov, according to NASDAQ. The talks are already on for exploration ventures in Russia's Barents Sea and the Asian part of Russia's Arctic waters. According to Fedorov, Rosneft is open to working with new partners: - Nothing prevents Shell or Total coming to us, he said. French petroleum major Total is already in talks with Rosneft. Last week General Director of Total in Russia Pierre Nergararyan said that Total wants partnership with Rosneft on both the continental shelf in the Barents- and Black Seas, as BarentsObserver reported. Rosneft has also agreed with British Petroleum to explore and develop three license blocks in an area in the southern Kara Sea, roughly equivalent in size and prospectivity to the British sector of the North Sea.
