VNG and Gazprom intensify technical cooperation in the field of underground gas storage

13.09.2011 + + + VNG – Verbundnetz Gas Aktiengesellschaft (VNG), Leipzig and OAO Gazprom, Moscow, are extending their cooperation on the technical monitoring of well pipework at underground storage facilities. Uwe Barthel, VNG Executive Board Member for Infrastructure and Technology, and Oleg Aksyutin, Member of the Management Committee and Head of the Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department of OAO Gazprom, signed an agreement between VNG and OOO Gazpromenergodiagnostika, a subsidiary of OAO Gazprom, concerning cooperation on diagnostic measurements of well pipework at underground storage facilities. “Constant monitoring of subsurface plant is particularly important for safe, modern and efficient operations,” Uwe Barthel underscored.

The agreement was signed during the 3rd International Conference on Underground Gas Storage Facilities. This conference, which is co-hosted by OAO Gazprom and VNG, provides a forum for specialists from a broad range of disciplines to discuss innovative technologies, advanced methods and processes to ensure the operational safety of underground storage facilities. Executives and experts from Russian and European companies in the gas industry, research institutions, engineering and service companies present the latest findings in the field of underground storage. The aim of the conference is to provide an intensive exchange of information among international specialists and storage operators about advanced methods for safeguarding optimum operational efficiency and reliability of subsurface and surface natural gas storage facilities. Scientific and technological cooperation between Gazprom and VNG has a successful history spanning more than 10 years, and innovation and research findings will therefore continue to be integrated in joint work processes.
